BFVG Dream League Of Dreams Week 2

Week 1 of the Dream League Of Dreams was filled with plenty of end to end, none stop, edge of your seat action. But here at BFVG we are always looking for ways to make things even more exciting. So we decided on a couple of rule changes that came in to immediate effect.

In their infinite wisdom the FAFF (Federal Association For Football) came to the unprecedented decision that the length of all future games will be doubled. Instead of the regular 5 minutes per half, games will now last 20 minutes consisting of 2 ten minute halves.
The second change that FAFF announced this week was that the games will now take place over two days instead of the previous one. 3 games will now be played Wednesday evenings with the remaining 3 played the following Saturday. In an official FAFF statement released on the 22nd of October they declared that; 'These changes were agreed by a 10-2 majority in favour. The aim of these changes is to ensure that the sports popularity continues to grow and that the DLOD continues to appeal to the younger generation.'

The Dream League Of Dreams will continue to be broadcast on the BFVG official Twitch channel, now taking place twice a week. For more information on future DLOD broadcasts and any other gaming related tom foolery please follow us on Twitter, Facebook and right here on Blogger. Wednesday 23rd October

Football United 1-1 Birmingham Alabamas

'Stop playing Leap Frog and tackle the F**cker' shouted
Birmingham Alabamas Boss, Alex Cole
This game saw no changes for either team as they lined up just as they had a few days earlier. It was a lively start to the game as Team Football created early chances. Aspas and Pilkington were causing trouble for the Alabamas back four. The best came in the 27th minute when Aspas managed to knock the ball pass 2 defenders, unleashing a fierce shot. However The Alabamas keeper was more than equal to the effort. The end of half stats showed that The Football United had the better of the half. It was very much the same second as Football united continued to mount pressure on their opponents. The break through came in the 56th minute when a superb 40 yard through ball from (Keith) Vaz Te fell to the feet of Agbonglahor who calmly slotted the shot passed the helpless Alabamas Keeper. The dominant performance continued as the home side pushed forward even hitting the post in the 64th minute. Then just as everyone thought all 3 points were going to the home team, Micheal Carrick scored a superb goal in the 85th minute after some wonderful build up play by the Alabmas. The game would end in a draw as both teams climbed to joint second in the league, at least for the time being.

Rainbow Death Monkeys 2-3 The Lostwithiel Left-Feet

Vladimir Putin's first foray into refereeing?
The second game of the evening would see The Rainbow Death Monkeys Hosting The Lostwithiel Left-Feet. As both teams lined up for the pre-match ceremonies many were left asking who exactly was the familiar face officiating the game? The first 30 minutes as the game produces little to no highlights as both teams seemed to have gone into the game with defense in mind. That all changed however in the 35th minute when a lovely in swinging ball came in from Cissokho on the right which was beautifully brought down by Elliot and knocked into the back of the net. The Rainbow Death Monkeys would go into the half a goal up. The Lostwithiel Left-Feet manager must have had stern words with the team at half time for as soon as the half began they found themselves equalising as Velios tapped in a deflected shot that the keeper could only parry into his path. The Rainbow Death Monkeys took the lead again only a few minutes later as the Goal Keeper errors continued when Bendtner rolled the ball straight into the path of Pantilimon who simply slotted home the goal. The goals continued to pour in when in the 75th minute Vuckic pounced upon another poor parry from the Rainbow Death Monkeys keeper, one which he did not really need to make as the cross was clearly going wide. 3 Minutes later Vuckic doubled his tally with a superb run that ended in them taking the lead with only 12 minutes to go. We saw the first yellow card of the Season when Panitilimon needlessly dived in with both feet towards the end of the game. The Leftwithiel Left-Feet were in control for the rest of the match and would gain there first win of the season.

Team Dean 0-0 The Yuletide Yodelling Yankee Yogis

The final game of the evening would be between Team Dean and The YYY's. The away team went into this match as firm favourites with big names such as Gerrard and Eto'o expected to walk all over the weaker opposition. However there seemed to be nerves from both teams as both teams would go into the second half without scoring. A scrappy midfield battle would mean that neither team could create decisive opportunities. The YYY's came out all guns blazing in the second half with Samuel Eto'o trying to find the bottom right corner of the net, however the Team Dean Goalkeeper was able to tip the ball just wide. Despite numerous attempts from Eto'o in the second half the game would end a bore draw.
After the match there were calls for FAFF (Federal Association For Football) to investigate whether an unnamed Team Dean striker had taken a bribe as he seemed to purposely slow down when he had a one on one chance with the apposing Goal Keeper
.

Saturday 26th October

Team Jeffica 0-1 The Puggernauts

Despite having more possesion, Team Jeffica would
go into the half a goal down.
The first game of the day would see the leagues only two female managers going head to head in an important match for both managers as both teams were looking for their first win of the season. The game started well for the Puggernauts as Nasri, Gouffron and Suarez linked up well on a number of occasions, creating some excellent chances. However it would be Milner who drew first blood when on the 12th minute he took advantage of an error in defense by Riise. Milner simply knocked the loose ball around the defender and lashed the shot in to the back on the net. Both teams continued to press the opposition creating a number of chances. Despite this Team Jeffica would go into the second half a goal down and would have it all to do in the final 45 minutes. As the teams kicked off for the second half it was clear that The Puggernauts manager had decided to 'shut up shop'. Choosing to retain possession rather than try and create more chances they frustrated their rivals who could not quite find the momentum that they had in the first half. In the 88th minute Suarez had the chance to seal the win for The Puggernauts however he slightly missed times his run and was deemed to be marginally offside. The game ended with only one goal in it and a first win for The Puggernauts. Despite the fact that the mangers of both these two teams were female, at no point did either of them get distracted by shoes. Nor did they constatly ask the male officials exactly what the offside rule meant. Maybe some stereotypes are not true after all.

Di Canio's Doubters 0-1 Professor Layton Orient

Di Canio's Doubters went into this game firm favorites after last weeks win over Dalewin Town. However they would not have everything there way when they hosted Professor Layton Orient in a game that would be filled with end to end action and no team really able to dominate procedings. The first real change of the game fell to Aguero who unfortunately found him self of balance just outside the box. The shot was easily gathered by the Orient goal keeper. The Full backs for both teams would have a growing influence as the game went on as Kolarov and Jones attempted to move the ball down the wings. The half would end with a great one on one chance for Defoe, however he could not keep his cool and the shot sailed past the wrong side of the post. In a move by FAFF that was deemed 'inappropriate' by most journalists, The Professor Layton Orient manager was invited to commentate on this game. He was unable to remain calm when the deadlock was finally broken just 1 minute into the second half after a superb 35 yard shot from Schurrle sailed into the top corner. The Orients continued to push forward as Di Canio's Doubters found themselves under mounting pressure. The game would end with the away team taking all three points. The Di Canio's Doubters manager said after the game that his team lost so that the league would 'remain interesting'. It would seem that he felt very confident that the Doubters would take the title.

Team Katamari 1-1 Dalewin Town

Could Dalewin Town claim their first points of the
campaign away to Team Katamari?
The final fixture of week would see Team Katamari hosting Dalewin Town, the only team still to have a single point. Both teams went into this game slightly nervously, creating very few chances in 30 minutes. Rooney and Sturridge then stepped up a gear linking up well and beggining to mount pressure on the Dalewin Town back four. Then in the 45th minute Pennant lost the ball to an excellent well timed tackle from Johnson. The ball was played out well through the midfield until the ball fell to N'Zogbia on the left who played a superb through ball for Van Persie to run onto. Van Persie shook off tackles from company and buried the ball into the bottom corner of the net. A great time to score as it would completely change the oppositions half time team talk. Dalewin Town would go into the second half a goal up.
Team Katamari responded magnificently in the second half as they came out and quickly took the game to the opposition. Their hard work would be rewarded when in the 76th minute when Jelavic fired home the equaliser after a superb one-two with Rooney. The match ended with both teams taking a point on a day that Dalewin Town at one point looked certain to win.

In a week filled with action and intrigue The Lostwithiel left-Feet, Professor Layton Orient and The Puggernauts would find themselves top on 4 points. While at the foot of the table Team Jeffica, Dalewin Town and the Rainbow Death Monkeys are all on a point each.
Will the table stay as it is? Will Dalewin Town find the form that they know they are capable of? Will the Professor Layton Orient Manager be more proffesional in the future? To find out the answers to these questions and many more join us on Twitch on Wednesday 30th October and Saturday 2nd November for week 3 of the Dream League Of Dreams.
