PES 14 BFVG Style; The Dream League of Dreams

Who will triumph in the Dream League of Dreams?

Do you love the Beautiful game? Do you enjoy playing said beautiful game on a gaming device? Have you ever wanted to endlessly sim a league with friends and see what happens?
If like me the answer to those questions was yes, yes, no then a few weeks ago I would have agreed with you. That was before myself and a few other members of BFVG found ourselves watching fellow BFVGer, Arjybarjy playing PES 14 while streaming it on Twitch. During our late night ramblings we stumble upon this great idea and from this the BFVGDLOD (Best Friends Video Games Dream League of Dreams) was born.



Its a simple idea, we each create a team including team names and kits (which I will come to later) then draft players to fill our respective rosters. Each week we would sim these games live on Twitch for our, and hopefully everyone else's enjoyment. Unfortunately there are not enough of us to have the league saved on PES (smallest league requires 14 teams) however I will be keeping all the results and updating the table. Then after each team has played each other twice a champion will be crowned. The winner* will be given the greatest trophy of all, the right to rub it in everyone else's face that he/she are the greatest and all others suck.

The Creations

Our aim was to try and keep the entire process as simple as possible. The draft took place one cloudy Wednesday eve (two days ago to be exact). We all gathered and took it in turns picking players from the English Premier League until we had drafted 22 players each. Some of us went for the players that we thought were the best, others (Seaking61) attempted to have an entire team that shared his surname. This process was not as smooth had we had hoped, our predicted one hour time scale soon doubled and before we knew it we were all shouting at Yoglaiiiii, although in retrospect he deserved it for not having a player in mind when it was his turn to pick.

So now our teams have been created, well kingofallcosmos and Arjybarjy have spent hours creating the teams and putting in place our preferred formation. However something was missing, they just didn't feel like we truly owned these teams. That was until we came up with our team names and created what can only be described as the greatest kits in the history of sport (you will have to follow us on Twitch to see the rest of the abominations).

The Rules

3 points for a win, 1 for a draw, 0 for a loss, easy! However due to the fact that we will be playing exhibition matches we had to introduce a few rules of our own. 

A player sent off in a match will receive a 2 match ban. If a player accumulates 3 yellow cards throughout the season they will receive a 1 match ban. A minor injury will force the player to sit out for a single match, while a more serious injury will force the player out for two games. 

Every 3 games each 'manager' is allowed to change their formation and starting 11 if they so wish. However any tinkering is then forbidden for a further 3 games so care will be needed. 

These are pretty much the only rules that we have. Hopefully this will keep the whole thing both simple and fun although like most activities that we take part in it will most likely end in arguments, anger and disappointment. 

The Dream League of Dreams will kick off the weekend off the 19th and 20th of October. We will be streaming all our games live on our Twitch channel each weekend.
